The beautiful view on quays Vauban From Battant bridge , both side . You can have a walk all around the city center , Besançon is nestling in the meander of the river Doubs .

Très belle vue sur les quais Vauban depuis le pont Battant .Vous pouvez vous promener tout autour du centre ville , Besançon est nichée au centre d'une boucle du Doubs ?

The Jean Cornet Fountain

post number 200 ! Bravo to me ;)

A Corner fountain realized by the sculptor Pasche in 1900 according to the plans of the architect Saint-Ginest. This monumental fountain replaced a fountain built in 1740 and destroyed at the revolution. The engraved writing under the fronton “Utinam” is the motto of the town that we find in another form “plût a Dieu” engraved on other monuments.


Fontaine d'angle réalisée par le sculpteur Pasche en 1900 d'après les dessins de l'architecte Saint-Ginest. Cette fontaine monumentale a remplacé une fontaine créée en 1740 et détruite sous la révolution. L'inscription gravée sous le fronton UTINAM est la devise de Besançon que l'on retrouve sous la forme PLÛT A DIEU gravée sur d'autres monuments. (source office du tourisme )

canal du Rhone au Rhin

It's still snowing ...here is a view of Moulin Saint Paul , built between 1832 and 1846, you can compare the old postcard with the new shot, it hasn't changed a lot ! Currently , the mill is used as offices and the house as a technical space and living space for the people who sail on the canal.

Il neige encore.... voici une vue du Moulin Saint Paul , construit entre 1832 et 1846, vous pouvez comparez la photo actuelle et la carte postale ancienne , cela n'a pas beaucoup changé !Actuellement, le moulin héberge des bureaux (dont ceux de Voies navigables de France) et la maison est utilisée comme espace technique et de vie pour la halte nautique.

Market Square

Its real name is Revolution Square, but the market takes place every thuesday, friday and saturday morning , that's why we call it Market square ! i took this shot from the Music school at about 5h 30 pm and it was after the big demonstration ! Later i will show you the market :)

Cette Place se nomme Place de la Révolution mais comme le marché y a lieu les mardis , vendredi et samedis matin , les Bisontins , l'appellent Place du Marché , normal !J'ai pris cette photo depuis le conservatoire de Musique ,le jour de la grande Manifestation ,mais apres , il était 17h30 ! Plus tard je vous montrerai le marché :)

The sculpture sits in Place Granvelle , Victor Hugo is born in Besançon that why have several monuments dedicated to him .

Tout le monde a deviné que c'était le grand auteur Victor Hugo . La sculpture se trouve Place Granvelle, de nombreux monuments lui sont dédiès car il est né à besançon .

Le musée du temps se situe au 96 grand rue , dans une aile du Palais Granvelle , palais renaissance du 16 siècle , la cour est magnifique et des concerts y ont lieu l'été .

In the old center of the town , you can visit the Time museum , 96 grande rue , in Granvelle Palace ,16th century , the collonated courtyard is beautiful , in summer there are many concerts .
