Belle Ile #3 : Le phare

click to enlarge photos ! The rock were is built the lighthouse of Poulains is isolated at high tide .
The electricity comes from a solar power roof since 2000, the solar panels have an autonomy for 10 days without sun .

This lighthouse has been in use since 1868, 18 meters high , you can reach it only at low tide . The last housekeeper lived there until 1987 with his family .

I just wonder how it would be to live there, isolated and lonely and yet, incredibly fascinating...

I love lighthouses and your first photo is great - a wonderful expression of utter solitude.
